When you want to resell your iPhone or your other iOS devices, you have to erase all the data in it so your personal information will not be accessed by some other people. You don’t need any other tools to do so, just your device is good enough. Follow the steps below to wipe information from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and restore your device to factory settings.
Before we begin, please make sure that you have done the following things:
- Make sure that you have signed out of iCloud. Go to Settings >> iCloud >> Sign Out. If you don’t sign out, your device might remain in Activation Lock.
- If you don’t remember your Restrictions password or can’t access the Restrictions settings for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, refer to this post to restore your iPhone using iTunes.
On your iPhone, go to Settings >> General >> Reset. Then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
That’s all you need to do.
It can take you a few minutes to complete, and you might need to enter your password and Apple ID password before you erase all the content and settings in your device. If you forgot your password, please refer to this post here to get your device restored.
